THE TEAM
KAREN WISE
Managing Director
Karen has over 20 years’ experience in HR. Prior to establishing Senatus Consulting in 2018, she has held senior HR positions up to Director at a number of NHS and private sector organisations. She has undertaken highly complex and sensitive investigations and acted as Head of Employee Relations at large teaching hospitals, driving up both quality and efficiency of the service.
Karen was appointed as a Code of Conduct Panel Member in 2022, supporting investigations into potential breaches of the CIPD Code of Conduct by members. Karen has Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice and MSc in Coaching Psychology and is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Sheffield looking at how conflict is managed in organisations when informal resolution fails.
PETE MARSHALL
Pete Marshall is the Managing Director & Founder of one of the leading public sector, and specifically NHS, consultancies in the UK.

He has been working with HR Directors, COOs, CFOs, CEOs and their teams for over 12 years to find HR related solutions to their organisations.
His extensive network of Associates and NHS clients - along with his pragmatic problem solving skills - means that he is well placed to support Karen and the team of hand picked Senatus Consultants.
Director
BECKY ATWOOD
Consultant
Becky is a senior HR consultant specialising in employee relations and employment law. She has over 20 years’ experience in HR across private sector, NHS trusts and local authorities. In addition to leading on a number of neutral/cultural assessments and large-scale HR transformation programmes, she has investigated and led on numerous complex and highly sensitive investigations involving grievance, disciplinary, whistleblowing and bullying and harassment issues, up to Very Senior Manager level. She has undertaken a wide range of workplace investigations.
Becky has a Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice, and a Master of Laws (LLM), Employment Law. Becky Atwood is also a Code of Conduct Panel Member and supports investigations into potential breaches of the CIPD Code of Conduct by members.
SHEILA CUNLIFFE
Consultant
Sheila Cunliffe is a Director-level People and OD professional with over 30 years experience in the NHS, Local and Central Government, NGO, Education, and Not for Profit Sectors.
Sheila is an experienced investigator of complex, senior-level, multi-faceted grievances and culture reviews. She has specialist knowledge and expertise in matters related to alleged discrimination on the basis of race, gender, disability and neurodivergence.
In addition to her work for Senatus, Sheila undertakes research into racism in recruitment in the NHS in London and gives presentations on this topic at conferences and events.
DAN SUMPTON
Consultant
Dan trained as a social worker and psychological therapist and has worked clinically in the NHS for over 20 years. He also worked for the CQC inspecting mental health hospitals and community provision for several years as well as a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian in the NHS.
He has a particular interest in understanding organisational culture, wellbeing, and the impact of incivility on staff.
HINA PANDYA
Consultant
Hina joins Senatus from an investigative journalism background, she comes with 16 years' experience and has a track record of her ability to focus in on the details and identifying the nuances of an investigation.
Hina was finalist for Women In Digital 2022 and 2023 and runs a newsletter on AI and its effects in the modern workplace. Hina has also co-founded a news start-up, initiated projects with Google News Lab, written policy in UK government departments and a model maker for visual effects, in California for George Lucas at ILM. She also writes creative fiction and is a published poet.
AMANDA WHITLOCK
Consultant
Amanda has significant experience in the Charity Sector providing strategic management and business development. Her last role was National Wellbeing Manager for a charity which specialised in providing advice, guidance, and support for older people.
Amanda is a licensed Mental Health First Aider, England Instructor and specialises in delivering wellbeing and mental health consultancy, training, and workshops. She is also a Corporate Wellbeing Coach and a Bereavement and Loss Support Practitioner. Alongside working with Senatus, Amanda is the owner of Total Wellbeing Matters, a company which offers services in promoting wellbeing.
TRIVENI DEY
Consultant
Triveni is an accomplished HR consultant with diverse experience in employee relations, recruitment, HR systems, talent management and project management. Triveni excels in resolving complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations and cultural reviews by fostering positive working relationships with participants. Triveni is a creative thinker with high professional standards, with specialist interests in maximising performance through the integration of new and emerging technologies with best practice.
Triveni’s particular area of expertise is in medical staffing, from managing medical appraisals, job planning and ensuring compliance with national standards as well as undertaking MHPS investigations.
CATHE GASKELL
Consultant
An experienced clinician and former Chief Nurse, now working within Organisational Development Teams in areas such training design delivery, task and finish groups, coaching, hosting staff engagement events and supporting inclusive recruitment. Cathe provides Culture Reviews which will assess the existing culture, including staff behaviours and practices around incivility and bullying and harassment, including sexual safety as well as advising on conflict and issues of psychological safety in teams and listening to participants ideas for improvement.
Cathe delivers leadership coaching and designs and facilitates workshops for a range of emerging leaders within the NHS. Cathe delivers training around facilitated conversations, advanced communication skills and navigating conflict for all staff grades and has delivered training to multiple teams including blue light services across the UK and Internationally. Cathe has a special interest in supporting internationally educated staff with advanced communication skills tailored to practicing and adapting in a different culture and addressing sexual safety issues within the workplace.
Arti has been with Senatus for over three years, bringing extensive experience in a senior managerial capacity. Arti has successfully undertaken multiple complex and sensitive investigations, demonstrating expertise in navigating challenging situations.

ARTI CHALMERS
Consultant
DEBORAH LIU
Consultant
Deborah has an extensive background in providing employee relations advice to managers across a variety of public sector organisations such as Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Tate Gallery and the NHS. She has strong credentials in employee relations, interpretation of employment legislation, working in unionised environments and policy development. Deborah has also undertaken organisational wide change programmes including reconfiguration of services and cultural change in addition to an embedded knowledge of job evaluation and salary benchmarking.
SHARON MARTIN
Business Manager
Sharon has over 30 years of administrative, operational, and financial management experience in both the public and corporate world. At Senatus, Sharon provides business support to our team of consultants to allow them to focus their time on investigations, from contract and finance administration to supporting the business in developing innovative and more efficient ways of working.
